In the early hours of June 24, Venezuela was struck by two devastating earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, the strongest seismic events to hit the country in more than a century.

Entire neighborhoods across Caracas, La Guaira and surrounding regions have been destroyed, leaving thousands of families displaced, injured, or searching for loved ones amid ongoing aftershocks. As rescue operations continue and the humanitarian crisis deepens, international organizations and local initiatives are working around the clock to provide emergency relief.

The scale of the tragedy is difficult to comprehend. Tens of thousands of people have been displaced, healthcare systems are under immense pressure, and many survivors are sleeping outdoors as aftershocks continue to shake affected regions. Humanitarian organizations warn that immediate support remains critical in the days and weeks ahead.

If you are able to help, here are several trusted organizations currently providing emergency support on the ground.

Sun.Risas

Founded by members of the Venezuelan diaspora and working closely with local partners, Sun.Risas has launched an emergency relief campaign focused on delivering immediate humanitarian support to affected communities. Their efforts include emergency supplies, direct assistance and community-led relief initiatives designed to reach those most impacted by the disaster.

Project HOPE

International humanitarian organization Project HOPE has been operating in Venezuela since 2019 and mobilized emergency teams within hours of the earthquakes. The organization is currently conducting search-and-rescue operations alongside local partners, providing emergency medical care, psychological support, medications and critical health services across affected regions. Project HOPE reports that more than half of surveyed health facilities have lost access to electricity and clean water, making medical assistance one of the most urgent needs.

Additional Organizations Providing Support

Several international humanitarian organizations have also activated emergency responses, including the International Red Cross, World Central Kitchen, Save the Children, Global Empowerment Mission and Doctors Without Borders. Relief experts continue to encourage donations to established organizations with existing operations and local partnerships in Venezuela to ensure aid reaches affected communities as quickly and effectively as possible.

As with every humanitarian crisis, the news cycle will eventually move on. For the families who have lost homes, loved ones and entire communities, recovery will continue for months and years to come. If you are able to contribute, even a small donation can help provide food, medical care, shelter and dignity to those navigating the aftermath of an unimaginable tragedy.
